Product Review - Tisano Chocolate Tea

Hi Everyone - It's time for another product review! Over the last couple of days I have been drinking A LOT of tea. Even more than usual. Last week, I was out of town for work and by the time I got home, I was feeling pretty exhausted and a little bit like I was coming down with something. We are heading into cold and flu season right now and spending multiple days around a lot of people and staying in a hotel had me feeling like I better make sure I am taking my vitamins, eating healthy, allowing myself to rest, and drinking tea.

Tisano Tea was kind enough to send me some samples of their chocolate teas and I have been trying them out all weekend. This is my first experience trying any kind of chocolate tea and what I really like is that their tea is made with 100% organic cacao shells. I tried 4 flavors: Original Cacao Tea, Chai Cacao Tea, Mint Cacao Tea, and Vanilla Cacao Tea.

Original Cacao Tea - 100% Organic Tisano Cacao Shell - The original was my favorite! I love that this tea is made from one humble ingredient and it really is like having a cup of hot cocoa. The aroma of this tea alone is really satisfying. If you compare this tea to the ingredients in your average grocery store hot chocolate, you will quickly realize what the healthier option is!

The tea is a pretty golden/amber color!

Chai Cacao Tea - 100% Tisano Cacao Shell, 100% Black Tea (Assam, India), 100% Organic Spice - i don't normally drink a lot of chai teas, but I do enjoy spiced tea once in a while. This one has cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon, which is great this time of year! I see myself drinking this more when it starts getting colder outside - (Especially on cold mornings)

Mint Cacao Tea - 100% Organic Tisano Cacao Shell, 100% Organic Peppermint (Egyptian) - Chocolate and Peppermint are two of my favorite flavors. This tea would be perfect after a meal instead of having heavy coffee or desert.

Vanilla Cacao Tea - 100% Organic Tisano Cacao Shell, Organic Rooibos, Organic Vanilla - This tea reminded me of something I can't quite put my finger on - it sort of tasted like honey! I found this tea to be very soothing and unlike any other tea blend that I've tried. I definitely see myself reaching for this one a lot.

Overall, I really enjoyed these teas and I think they are great for a number of reasons. If you are someone who craves the taste of chocolate, but are trying to watch your weight (like me) drinking a cup of chocolate tea after a meal or whenever that craving hits you could help you avoid unnecessary calories, fat, and sugar. I did not add anything when I tried these, because I wanted to try the tea exactly the way it came. However, I think if you decided to add a little milk and sugar (or whatever you like) they would be even more delicious. The benefit of adding your own is that you know exactly how much and what quality of ingredients you are using. I also plant to experiment with these in recipes and smoothies - There is a blog with recipes and ideas on Tisano's website and I will work on trying some of them!
